How Do LED Lanterns Emit Colorful Light?

The basic structure of the LED lantern is an electroluminescent semiconductor material chip. It does not emit light through the electron transition inside the atom, but by applying a voltage to both ends of the PN junction of the LED, so that the PN junction itself forms an energy level, and then electrons jump at this energy level and produce photons to emit light. LED battery holiday lights come in this way.

LEDs using cadmium zinc selenide semiconductor materials can emit green light, aluminum gallium indium phosphide can emit yellow light, and aluminum gallium arsenide can emit red light.

So how does it emit white light? The easiest way is to inject yellow phosphor into the semiconductor of the blue LED lamp, so that white light can be emitted. The materials are integrated into an LED light, which also emits white light.

For white light LEDs, in addition to the chip, the internal structure also includes phosphors. Generally, a blue light chip is used to excite yellow phosphors, and white light is obtained by compounding. Here, in addition to the electroluminescence of the chip, there is also the photoluminescence of the phosphors. In addition to this form, there are three primary color chip combinations to obtain white light. There is also the light of different colors, and its luminous efficiency is also different. The unit of luminous efficiency is lumens per watt, which means how many lumens of light is emitted under the condition of one watt of electrical power. The larger the value, the better. Take the lamp as an example, it can only emit 13 lumens of light at one watt of electrical power.
